So finally the wait is over for the Xiaomi fans who kept holding themselves since almost 4-6 months for the next Redmi series phone after Redmi Note 4. At an event in Delhi today (14-Feb-2017), Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Launched in India. Along with this Xiaomi has also Introduces its First LED TV in India, but for now we are only going to talk about Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Specification and its prices.
Redmi Note 5 :
The Redmi Note 5 shares the same hardware as its predecessor, with the main difference being the 18:9 5.99″ FHD+ (2160 x 1080) display at the front. Back is almost identical to Note 4 which feels little bored.
With tall display you will get same Snapdragon 635 chipset bundled with Adreno 506 GPU supporting with 3gb/4gb of ram. It has got 12MP (f/2.2) snapper with dual tone-dual LED flash and PDAF and in front it has 5MP (f/2.0) with selfie flash, Beautify 3.0, selfie timer, and face recognition (will be updated via OTA in March 2018). The phone will launch with Nougat out of the box. You would not get Oreo out of box. By this time a new phone with Nougat will be a sheer disappointment.
On the battery side, it comes with huge battery of 4000mAh with normal 5V/2A USB charging (no official fast charging). Headphone jack is still there, which is not a surprise in the budget segment.
the Redmi Note 5 is slotting in at the same price bracket as the Redmi Note 4, with the 3GB version offering 32GB of storage retailing for ₹9,999 and the 4GB model with 64GB of storage available for ₹11,999.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Specification :
As far as design is concerned, Redmi note 5 Pro is quite similar to Redmi Note 5 from front. From back side it is inspired by vertical dual camera setup of IPhoneX which look better than Note 5 if not best. The biggest highlight in this phone is :
Qualcomm’s latest mid-range chip Snapdragon 636
Redmi Note 5 would be the first phone in the word with this newest chip from Snapdragon. The Snapdragon 636 is fabricated on the 14nm process, and features eight custom Kryo 260 cores, based on four Cortex A53 cores for efficiency and four Cortex A73 cores for performance. The chipset also features the Qualcomm Spectra 160 image signal processor (ISP), which handles the heavy lifting for the camera.
Dual camera setup:
The phone features a dual-camera setup at the rear, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The camera setup is vertically placed inspired by IPhone X and uses an RGB setup on both sensors. The phone also features a 20-megapixel front camera with lamp flash. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro uses software algorithms to create portrait mode shots from the front camera as well, allowing for selfies with the background-blur effect.
The phone will be sold in two variants: a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for ₹13,999, and another variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for ₹16,999.

Conclusion :
For me, Redmi Note 5 is not a real upgrade over Redmi Note 4. Just a 18:9 display is not adding much to it, yes the price is quite competitive so if this is your first Redmi phone then you can go for it. Its a good grab in budget but not for upgrade. Here, Company didn’t tried to improve the performance either and in camera department we all know Xiaomi is just OK. So if you already have Note 4, better go for Redmi Note 5 Pro rather with Dual camera equipped with SONY sensor and a better snapdragon processor adds some value to this Pro model.
