If you are in love with Birds and their chirping gives you pleasure and calmness and makes you feel like you are right in the lap of nature, then definitely you should grab your camera and head to Okhla Bird Sanctuary in Delhi. Situated in center to Delhi or Noida, its a great place for bird photography specially in  winter season when you could get to see many migrated beautiful birds and photograph them.

A HEART WITHOUT DREAM, IS LIKE A BIRD WITHOUT FEATHER !!!

Okhla Bird Sanctuary in Delhi :

This Bird Sanctuary provides solace through the beautiful spectacle of innumerable birds and biodiversity. It was designated a bird sanctuary by the Uttar Pradesh Govt. in 1990. It is a beautiful bird sanctuary at the Okhla Barrage over the river Yamuna. No vehicle is allowed inside the sanctuary. However, for winter migratory birds the best season is during September-March. You might not like this place from Mar-Apr till Aug due to extremely  high temperature in this region.

Major Attraction:

Known for its exotic birds, Okhla Bird Sanctuary is a home away from home for innumerable birds. Visitors can view White-rumped vulture, Indian vulture along with vulnerable species like Baikal Teal, Baer’s Pochard, Sarus Crane and Sociable Lapwing. Ferruginous Pochard, Black-bellied Tern and Grey headed Fish Eagle can also be sighted in the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. A haven for birds, Okhla Bird Sancturay is also home to Indian Skinmer, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Lesser Adjutant, Bristled Grassbird along with Finn’s Weaver. Birdwatchers also sight Black-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank, Wood Sandpiper, Western Marsh Harrier along with Pied Avocet, Blue Throat to name a few.

This Bird Sanctuary is located in Noida Plaza, N Block, Pocket K, Sector 95, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Pin Code- 201301

Timing:

This is open on all days of the week.

For Summer- 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM And For Winter- 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM

My Visit :

It was a early morning on 22 Jan 2018, hard time for me finding this bird Sanctuary as the main gate was closed and there was new gate from opposite side of this sanctuary was opened, I was not aware of this 🙂 . Somehow I reached this place by 09:45 AM. There was no parking inside sanctuary, so I had to park my bike outside gate. There were few bikes already there so no issue and It was on main road almost so nothing to be worried.

I had my Nikon D3300 + Tamron 70-300 VC USD lens with me. I know 300mm is not enough for birding, but as I am not a professional so it was ok for me ( Its a costly hobby, can not afford dedicated lenses for each genre 😛 ). As soon as you enter inside you could see a lake with many different specifies of birds flying in and around. I switched my camera ON and started clicking pictures.
